We took a trip around Pine and Stone Lake to see what the weather had brought in. Lots of waterfowl of every kind. Great day to bird! Pictured below from top to bottom are Gadwall, Canada Geese, Lesser Scaup and Northern Shovelers.

LaPorte County Snowy
Not long after the year got underway, I got a glimpse of my second Snowy Owl. Only this time, I had my camera with me. What an awesome sight! We kept an eye on her for several days, and after being very patient, she flew over to a nearby airport where we were able to get some pictures of her. She stuck around for nearly 3 months before she continued her journey! The first picture is where we found her the first time, in the middle of a cut bean field!

Beverly Shores Hawk
I got a couple of close up Red-Shouldered Hawk pictures today while birding Beverly Shores. I drove around a corner and when I looked up, he was sitting there just looking at me without a care in the world. Then he just kept on hunting until I had to move on. Awesome bird!
